About WHOA

Why I formed this group: Being new to the Hockley area and getting back into horse ownership and riding I had a great deal of questions about where to get equine services like fence building, feed, riding instruction, farrier, vet, hay - the list goes on. I needed to connect with other women horse owners to find the answers. This is how I came to the idea of starting a group. I figured if I had questions and needed support there must be others who would like to benefit too. WHOA was formed to be a provider of services and opportunities for Women Horse Owners. Initially ms, and then quickly expanded to include clinics, workshops, organized riding events and a website. Other opportunities and offers are continually being investigated. Our inaugural meeting was held in January 2006 and monthly meetings have been held every month since then. To-date, as of March 2010, we have more than 80 members.
